How do you select your natural products, plant-based oils and vegetal powders?
All of L’Officine’s oils and powder are organic. We select them around the world and find the best quality live plants, respect the ingredient as much as possible and preserve all its properties. All oils are cold-pressed, and as for macerates, the second step is macerating flowers, wood, roots or whole plants in the oil. Thanks to our expertise, we can select the most efficient oils and powders for your specific skin type.
Can you replace a cream with an oil?
Absolutely! Creams are full of water, which evaporates and thus doesn’t always allow moisture to stay in. The formulae can be too complex for the skin and saturate it. Plant-based oil has a very close affinity to the skin. Its composition is close to that of human sebum, and with the right dosage, it is immediately absorbed and soothes, hydrates, nourishes, heals and protects the skin in only one movement. In the evening, oil deeply treats the skin, and in the morning, it protects it for a long time. Oil’s great strength is in teaching the skin to function on its own.
Is oil greasy?
According to urban legend, oil makes your skin greasy. These are false accusations! A very good quality oil, cold-pressed, respects the skin and will never feel greasy to the touch. It’s important to apply the right dosage: three to four drops in the evening, two drops in the morning. It will be completely absorbed and will work its virtues. Some oils, like Babassu seed oil, can even reduce the shine on the skin.
Does oil stimulate blackheads and sebum production?
In our selection, three oils are comedogenic: Rosehip, Raw Cocoa, and Wheat Germ. Rosehip can only be used on the face if you’re over 55 or if you need to heal scars. Raw Cocoa butter can be used on children’s faces or on very dry skin, as is Wheat Germ Oil. These oils can all be used freely on the body. In order to know if an oil is comedogenic or not, several criteria exist:
- A comedogenicity index between 0 and 5. - Whether it’s fresh or fragile and oxidizes easily (all rancid oils will be comedogenic)
- Whether it has been heated or mixed with mineral oils: it will usually be oxidated and therefore comedogenic. This low-quality oil has nothing to do on L’Officine Universelle Buly’s shelves.

Are anti-aging routines efficient?
Indeed, a natural anti-aging routine is both simple and efficient. The secret for a gracefully aging skin is to clean it efficiently and delicately, to hydrate it well, and to use a treatment suited to your skin type. Oh, and no more than two scrubs or masques a month.
Our True Ionized Cleansing Water 1 has a unique formula, based on ions, silica and chlorophyll. It cleanses the skin and protects it from wrinkles and dryness. Plant-based Hyaluronic Acid can be added to it to enhance its effects and create a powerful moisturizing and anti-aging serum.
In the evening: 4 drops of Prickly Pear or Sea-Buckthorn Oil to deeply regenerate the skin and make it more structured, radiant and smooth.
In the morning: 2 drops of Raspberry Oil to protect your skin from free radicals, blue and sun light, and to benefit from its anti-aging virtues.
A masque made with Red Clay, Diatomaceous Earth Powder, Shea Butter or Castor Oil will do wonders. You will find our beauty recipes in the recommendations in our product descriptions.
I have oily or combination skin. Can I use oil?
Yes, you can use one of our organic cold-pressed oils freely. An oil adapted to oily or combination skin treats it, repairs it, mattifies it and tightens the pores day and night. And contrary to the stereotype, oily and combination skins benefit as much from oil’s virtues than dry ones.
Sebaceous glands, whose primary function is to produce sebum, get activated to soothe the skin. Sebum protects the skin from aggression from the outside: germs, air pollution, dryness… Excess of sebum leads to blackheads and other blemishes. This overproduction can be caused by many factors: hormonal imbalance, stress, tiredness, aggressive skincare, etc. Oil will allow sebaceous glands to rest, and prevent that oily sensation on your face.
How do I take care of my sensitive skin?
A sensitive skin needs to be soothed. To calm the irritation, itching or redness caused by cutaneous reactions, nothing beats an oil, an ionized lotion, a plant-based powder or a rose quartz stone, for example. These skin care products have a great affinity with the skin, are well tolerated and have long-lasting effects.

How can I treat my acne?
Acne is very unpleasant and can ruin your everyday life. Acne spots and scars are easy to heal. To deeply cleanse and moisturize your skin without damaging it, to repair and protect it at once, mix our True Ionized Cleansing Water 2 with one gram of Hyaluronic Acid. Avoid scrubs or masques for more than once a month until the spots disappear. Once the balance of your skin is restored, you may use them up to twice a month.

How can I take care of my atopic skin (eczema, psoriasis)?
Atopic skin is very fragile, it itches, burns, peels off, and reddens. There are multiple solutions. Mixing True Ionized Cleansing Water 1 with one gram of Hyaluronic Acid will provide a deep and gentle cleanse that will moisturize all skins including the most sensitive. Your skin will be repaired and will regain her protective lipidic coat. Dragon Blood Oil will treat areas damaged by eczema or psoriasis. Shea Butter, Rose Quartz, Hemp, Copaiba, Chamomile, or Lavender Oil, Marshmallow Powder or Diatomaceous Earth Powder will also be a great help.

What products do you recommend while I’m pregnant?
Pregnancy is a very special time. Organic powders and oils are a fabulous ally to treat and protect skin and hair during this precious time. Baobab Seed Oil combined with Cocoa Butter will protect your belly and avoid stretch marks. Daisy Oil will preserve your chest’s, arms’, and thighs’ firmness. Raspberry Oil will protect your face from free radicals and sun rays to prevent the appearance of the dreaded pregnancy mask. You can use any of our oils and powder during your pregnancy, excepted Copaiba oil and Tea Tree Essential Oil.

What products can I use for a baby or a child?
Babies and children have a sensitive and fragile skin that you can protect with oils and powders.
Calendula, Chamomile, or Lavender Oil are perfect to moisturize and protect. White Kaolin Clay is a delicate powder you can use after the bath or after changing baby’s nappy.
For atopic skins, use specific oils to repair and soothe it, such as Dragon Blood, Calendula or Chamomile Macerate, or Shea Butter.

Are your products tested on animals?
We do not do tests on animals.
Where can I find the list of ingredients of a product?
Our products’ formulae are shown on the product description, in the ‘INGREDIENTS’ section. Our products are paraben-, phenoxyethanol-, and silicon-free.
Where can I find the ‘Use by’ date of a product?
The Use-by date is shown at the back of the product or under the bottle. We recommend you use them within twelve months after opening.
Where are your products made?
Our Eaux Triples, Pommades, Eau Superfine, Ionized Water, Lait Nettoyant, Opiates, Eau de La Belle Haleine, Huile Antique, Lait Virginal, Huile de Savon, Savons Superfins, Candles, Matches and perfume concentrates for alabasters are all made in France.
All our plant-based oils are bottled in France. We carefully select our beauty accessories around the globe. Our acetate combs are made in Switzerland. Our toothbrushes are from Italy or Switzerland, our face brushes from Japan, our body brushes from Germany, our horsehair gloves from Italy, our sponges from Greece, our pumice stones from Morocco…
What materials do you use for your bottles?
We chose to use glass for our bottles and metal for our tubes. We use metal caps to seal the tubes and bottles containing our products. The Lait Virginal and Huile de Savon have a plastic pump for easier use. Bottles of plant oils and lotions are made of glass and sealed with a plastic cap with, for the oils, a plastic dropper.
